This project is exactly the same as the one we have been given, as it has a specific date and time in which the photos have to be taken. Brett Brownell set up the project in 2007; it is a non-profit organization to create international peace, art and cultural awareness.
I think this is a really good idea that could create some amazing results, especially as it will cover different time zones. This means you will have images at different times of the day, but all at the same time. Showing what different people around the world are doing at one specific point in time, giving everyone an insight into other people’s lives. The things that don’t work is that it will probably take ages to upload your photo onto the web, and you might need to buy special equipment, for example a tripod, if you were in a time zone that was at night.
A project like this would affect your photography because it would teach you to plan ahead, and be able to take pictures in the spur of the moment, rather than taking an hour setting the scene. It would also enable you to be able to take in what is around you and what is of interest in a photographic view.
If you took part in this project it would mean that you are contributing to something global, that everyone around the world is doing at exactly the same time as you. It would also give people the opportunity to see what you see in your day to day life, and see what you think is a good subject to take photographs of. It would also mean that you can look at what someone else was looking at, while they can look at what you were looking at, at exactly the same time.
The health and safety concerns would be that your picture might not be copyrighted, in this case is it and all rights are reserved in the name of the photographer, even if they choose that they do not want to be named.
